Applications are invited for an 10 PA Locum Consultant post in Palliative Medicine. The successful applicant will join a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly supportive multi-professional team. The post-holder will embody our Trust values helping to support the delivery of high quality clinical care and to provide leadership across our service which spans hospital, outpatient and community settings.
The Palliative Care service at Guy's and St Thomas' has a strong record of high quality clinical care, service innovation and quality improvement. We work closely with colleagues in our King's Health Partners' Palliative Care Clinical Academic Group. The post-holder will have the opportunity to engage with our portfolio of education and research with many opportunities to work with colleagues across the organisation.
You must be fully registered with the GMC/GDC and hold License to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent at interview stage.
About usThe post-holder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years) and therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

We regard this flexibility as essential if we are to continue to provide first class patient care in the future. As a result, any offer of employment to a consultant post will be subject to you agreeing to work a new more flexible pattern of working in the future if required and in accordance with the provisions of the new Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust consultant contract.
Please note that successful completion of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is our accepted minimum language requirement.

Person SpecificationClinical ExperienceComprehensive clinical experience in palliative care in inpatient, hospice and community settingsExperience working across inpatient, outpatient and community settings as a Consultant or as a Registrar acting upProfessional QualificationsEligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practise. On GMC Specialist Register or within six months of attaining CCT in Palliative MedicinePostgraduate qualification at Masters level or aboveExceptional communication with evidence of advanced communication skills training.Audit Management & ITExperience of participating in audit and quality improvementUnderstanding of the principles and application of clinical governanceCan evidence improved patient care through personal involvement in clinical governance proceduresResearch, Teaching skill & experienceExperience of multi-professional teaching and training for both undergraduate and postgraduates.Understanding of the principles and applications of clinical researchEvidence of formal qualification in medical education or similarEvidence of academic achievements to include - awards, presentations and publicationsEvidence of training in management and/or leadership appropriate for the roleEvidence of implementing change at service or organisational levelDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
