What you'll be doing Reporting to our General Counsel, the Legal Counsel will be a self-starter and be able to help shape our legal and compliance function to meet the requirements of our next phase of growth. We are ideally looking for someone who can turn their hand to the full range of our legal and compliance issues.
Key Tasks Draft, review and negotiate key commercial agreements with customers and suppliers, including agreements covering SaaS services, professional services, software licensing, inward and outward data, IP and general procurement. Draft, negotiate and advise on data protection agreements and privacy policies. Support the sales team to close B2B SaaS and Enterprise deals. Support the sales team to draft partnership agreements, with both data suppliers and channel partners. Work with the product, delivery and engineering teams to understand the legal implications of new products and features. Ensure and track compliance with data protection, privacy and other regulatory requirements. Support the continuous improvement of our standard form agreements and internal legal and compliance processes. Work with the General Counsel and the rest of the leadership team to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as contractual undertakings and investor relations. Work with the people operations team on employment law issues. Horizon scan for changes of regulation that might affect our business, highlighting both opportunities and risks. Help to manage external legal counsel, ensuring maximum efficiencies of work performed whilst proactively managing the costs incurred. Key Skills A lawyer qualified in England & Wales with commercial experience post PQE. Relevant experience in drafting and negotiating agreements, with a good understanding of commercial issues, IP, data protection, privacy and AI. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to communicate complex legal issues and risks in terms that non-legal colleagues can understand, and to deliver high quality, commercially pragmatic and timely legal advice. Excellent negotiating and drafting skills. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects at once, and meet deadlines with excellent attention to detail. Ability to deliver in a fast paced and entrepreneurial environment in a timely manner. A hybrid worker expected to spend some time in our offices in Cheltenham or London. Someone who either has experience of working in-house at a scaleup or at least an appreciation of the environment.
