A Taste of The Job: We now have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our legal team. Based in our London office and reporting to the General Counsel, this role offers the chance to provide strategic and legal support to various parts of the business, including our sales, marketing, and operations teams. You'll collaborate across departments to ensure legal compliance, manage corporate governance, and guide the business through legal complexities that arise in an ever-evolving marketplace.
As our next Legal Counsel, you'll be integral in shaping our legal strategies and providing expert legal support across the organisation.
This is a full-time, 5-days-in-the-office role with the possibility to start as soon as possible. Key Responsibilities: Consult with the business and handle all corporate legal processes (e.g. intellectual property, compliance issues, agreements, lawsuits) across all operating jurisdictions. Draft, review, and administer agreements, contracts, and other legal documents to ensure the company's full legal rights are protected. Develop company policy and position on legal issues. Research, anticipate, and guard the company against legal risks. Guide managers and ensure compliance with rules and regulations. Manage compliance and labelling requirements. Provide accurate and timely counsel to executives on a variety of legal topics. Communicate, monitor, and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authorities, etc.), fostering relationships built on trust. Navigate complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forces. Stay updated on legislation and regulatory changes impacting the business. A Bit About You: You bring proven experience in a business or professional services environment, with 4+ years PQE, including exposure to corporate transactions and commercial contracts (distribution, IP, brand). You hold a law degree and are qualified with an international law firm. You are a team player who is curious, inquisitive, and adept at horizon scanning, with a solution-focused mindset. You have a strong work ethic, are driven, and capable of autonomously managing legal priorities and projects to a high standard. You possess a solid background in general commercial law, particularly in intellectual property rights and licensing. You are commercially minded with excellent negotiation and communication skills. You have strong administrative and managerial skills. Your analytical ability and attention to detail are exceptional. You are proficient in computer skills. You fully comprehend the external influences affecting a corporation. You demonstrate a high degree of professional ethics and integrity. You possess sound judgment and the ability to analyse situations and information effectively. Experience in the alcohol industry would be a distinct advantage.
