What this job involves: We are looking for a commercially minded, mentally agile construction lawyer to provide regional support to the PDS business line across EMEA and provide day to day legal support to Tetris UK.
What your day to day will look like: The role will primarily be based in London with a minimum of 3 days office-based, with potential travel within EMEA depending on project requirements.
You will enjoy an exciting and varied workload across jurisdictions working in close collaboration with the business teams in relation to:
contract review and negotiation with clients and subcontractors for Tetris UK and PDS EMEAnegotiation of multi-jurisdictional and multi-service MSAsinternal project approvals and escalationsmanagement of disputesassist with JLL compliance matters and initiativesinput into appropriate governance and controls – including best practice legal playbooksstakeholder management and advicedevelopment and maintenance of contract templatesdelivery of training to the business on playbooks, relevant legislation, ethics and compliance matters as required.Team StructureReporting to Head of legal (PDS/Tetris) and working closely with the JLL legal team and business partners in the UK and across EMEA you will join a team of approximately 80 legal and compliance professionals across the region.
Required experience The role will require a detailed knowledge and understanding of the fit out/construction business and the ability to lead and conclude legal negotiations – whether for an individual project or projects carried out under wider framework agreements or MSAs with pan European or global clients.
An in-depth knowledge of construction law is needed – including the use of the JCT, FIDIC and other standard (and non-standard) construction contract forms – as well as experience with insurance issues, KYC processes and claims management.
The role will also require an understanding of alternative construction delivery models, construction contracting principles and construction related professional services especially where supporting the business on proposed geographic expansion.
Requirements UK qualified lawyer with minimum of six years' construction law experience. Commercially minded, solutions driven and able to balance risk and reward and be a trusted advisor to business team and management. Strong understanding of the fit out/construction business and related contracting. Clear communicator, confident presenter who can influence colleagues with brevity and impact. High level of personal integrity and drive. Ability to speak/work in other languages desirable but not necessary. Proven experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and management and technical legal competency. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance issues related to construction projects including anti-bribery and corruption, competition law, health & safety. Experience in handling construction-related disputes, litigation, and alternative dispute resolution is highly desirable. Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team and across business line and jurisdiction.
