Interim Lawyer Advocate - Children & Families Job Ref: Gloucestershire 5259089 Pay Rate: £43.12 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours Role Length: This opening assignment is for 6 months City: GLOUCESTER Previous DoLs application and COP work would be advantageous This post involves attending the local Family Courts in Gloucester and Bristol in person. This post is only suitable for a solicitor, barrister or legal executive with good advocacy skills and willing to conduct advocacy in the Family Court mainly in Gloucester occasionally Bristol for attended hearings. This would therefore suit someone local to Gloucester or Bristol, or someone who would be willing to relocate. As a member of the County Council's Legal Team, to provide high quality legal services in the areas of Allocated Advice Areas. Public law child care cases.
Key Responsibilities: Provide high quality legal services Undertake advocacy for CMH and IRH hearings. Represent Legal Services, the Council and external clients in meetings, including committee and member meetings, inquiries and working groups and in discussions with other legal practitioners at an appropriate level as and when required. Contribute to the development and delivery of legal services. Exhibit the employee behaviours as indicated in the Council's People Strategy. Deal with sensitive issues with tact and confidentiality. Provide innovative, creative advice to clients in a pressurised environment. Highly developed negotiating and listening skills with various groups of people and in a variety of different settings, including some of which may potentially end in conflict. Key Requirements: Qualified barrister, Solicitor or a Chartered Legal Executive. Membership of the relevant professional body. Reasonable knowledge of English law and practice. Experience of undertaking advocacy in court together with contested hearings requiring the cross examination of witnesses in court. Experience of working in local government. Good interpersonal and communication skills to be able to advise members, staff, other organisations and members of the public courteously and efficiently in person and by telephone. Good research and problem solving skills with ability to convey complex legal and factual issues to various audiences. Good research and IT skills including the ability to use a case management system. Ability to work collaboratively with professionals and client departments in order to build excellent working relationships and one which is supportive to the client department. #J-18808-Ljbffr
