Development, training, and professional qualifications We are looking for a Large Loss Claims Handler to efficiently investigate and handle all claims allocated to them within the company and client's operating procedures to ensure attainment of the company's objectives.
To handle high value >£100k or otherwise technically complex claims and support development /implementation of strategic initiatives.
Please Note:  This is a hybrid role where you will be required to attend either the Leeds or Liverpool office 1 day per week.
What will your day look like: I nvestigate and resolve high value, complex, contentious and strategically important claims to ensure they are properly reserved and settled at optimum cost.
Responsible for communication to internal and external stakeholder of the detail and impact of all relevant legislative change and other internal/external technical developments Provide structured feedback on any large loss claim outcome where wider technical benefit is identified.
Support, co-ordinate and participate as appropriate in any key industry forums.
Assist Claims Manager to identify, develop and implement strategies for : Best practice initiatives Technical Projects Audit procedures  Act as a Technical Referral point to provide excellent claims handling advice, actively support the enhancement of the technical performance of the wider claims department Handle larger and more complex claims within agreed client SLA's Liaison with the client/policyholder/broker.
Investigate allocated claims thoroughly, establishing how and why events occurred and the legal liabilities which may arise.
Obtain all necessary evidence and relevant documentation including detailed statements from witnesses and other informative sources.
Maintain a full knowledge of client requirements by referral to documented procedures and adhere to them at all times.
Determine appropriate action for resolution of the case.
Correspond with all parties to the case quickly and professionally.
Maintain a proper reserve at all times and review reserves regularly.
Control the progress of the case.
Obtain medical or expert evidence and wage information where appropriate.
Negotiate settlement where appropriate, in accordance with authority limits.
Instruct and control defence solicitors, through to Trial if necessary.
Ensure that costs are kept to a minimum.
Keep yourself updated on any technical or legal changes which may have a bearing on our claims.
You may be called upon to attend or participate in company training programmes.
Provide guidance and support to junior injury handlers through coaching Undertake any necessary duties to fulfil the requirements of the post.
You will be granted a claims handling and reserving authority in accordance with your experience.
You will in addition be granted a payment request authority limit.
All Staff are expected to carry out any reasonable instruction given by their senior manager, in line with business requirements.
Knowledge and Abilities: Minimum 5 years experience of handling claims >£100k preferred.
Ability to self-motivate Confidently able to present claims information to clients whether by email, over the phone or face to face.
Good knowledge of Motor claims and relevant legislative changes Excellent presentation skills Strong negotiation skills Excellent communication skills Relationship management  Ability to work on own initiative.
