Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse

Job summary A fantastic permanent opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our ward 1 renal team.
Contracted hours 30 hours/ Per week.We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and motivated nurse with at least 2 years' experience at Senior Band 5 level or Band 6 level to undertake this role.
You will need to have experience/interest in paediatric renal/urology with a minimum of 1 years' experience in pediatric renal nursing.The successful candidate will already have experience of caring for children and young people in paediatric nursing and high dependency.
They will also be expected to take charge of the unit and provide support to the rest of the nursing team.
There will be development opportunity to do the Renal Nursing Course.For further information please contact Gemma Poole via email on Main duties of the job To provide information, clinical advice and support to children in acute, chronic and end stage renal failure and their families and to act as a resource to other professional's involved in each child's care.
To be an expert, knowledgeable and visible practitioner within the renal service ensuring the provision of high quality evidence-based nursing care for the children and their families.
Ensure that each child is assessed, and their care planned, implemented and evaluated in negotiation with the family and other staff caring for the child and that it is accurately communicated and documented.
Liaise with clinical, non-clinical and facilities staff in order to maintain a safe, friendly and welcoming environment for the children, families, visitors and staff.
To act as an advocate for the child and family ensuring the provision of appropriate information and support services.
Ensure effective communication between all members of the multidisciplinary team both internally and externally to the trust, and other hospital departments, relatives and visitors.
To develop and fully utilise clinical assessment and referral skills.
To be competent in the administration of medication under patient group directives or supplementary prescribing as relevant To be fully aware of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment in the department.

Evidence of mentoring and preceptorship To assess, plan and implement care for a group of patients Demonstrates understanding of reporting untoward incidents and accidents Competent in aspects of scope of professional practice.
Knowledge of current research Relevant theoretical training Experience in relevant specialty PROFESSIONAL / MANAGERIAL / SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE Essential Previous experience in paediatric Renal/ Urology Previous experience in high dependency care Willing to undertake relevant training Ability to understand and respond in emergencies Basic understanding and knowledge of IT Desirable Competent in aspects of scope and professional practice
