Our Operations Transmission team has a fantastic opportunity for a Jointers Mate to join them in Oldham / Manchester area on a full-time basis.
Our Role In this safety mate role, day to day work will involve working as part of a team.
You will be part of our South Transmission jointing team based out of our Oldham depot.
You will participate in the jointing, fault location and repair work of our underground High Voltage transmission network which takes place during both working hours and after hours when required, ensuring that interruptions to our customer's electricity supply are kept to an absolute minimum.
The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate a flexible approach to their working pattern with working outside in all weathers.
At all times and in all activities, you will fully comply with Electricity Northwest codes of practice and take a proactive approach to safety, you will participate in predetermined safety processes as required.
Who we're looking for To apply for this role, you will need to hold operational authorisations to act as a competent person, be in possession of a full UK driving licence and be willing to work outside in all weathers.
You will also need the following: Be in possession of a full UK driving licence (essential) with categories B+E (desirable) Have experience and an understanding of utility records (desirable) Hold a NRSWA (New Roads & Street Works Act) accreditation (desirable) Demonstrate knowledge of safe working practices and risk assessment procedures (essential) Have experience working with high voltage electrical system components, plant and equipment (desirable) Have a good understanding of health and safety legislation and how it relates to personal responsibilities (desirable) Be willing to work outside in all weathers (essential) Be self-driven and able to work under pressure to meet relevant business / regulatory targets (essential) Be flexible and adaptable in their approach (essential) Have good team working and interpersonal skills (essential) What we're offering As a vital team member and in return for your expertise, inclusive approach and commitment, we'll provide a favourable salary and the chance to join a passionate and welcoming team.
