Job Title: Infra Architect Location: Reading, UK / Hybrid (2 days) Duration: 6 months Start Date: ASAP Number of Positions: 1 Role Overview Join the Infrastructure Design team at Primark, reporting to the Tech Architecture Practice Lead .
You will share responsibility for platform elements of infrastructure design, focusing on Virtualisation , Server , and Database solutions .
This role will play a key part in shaping Primark's infrastructure strategy, working alongside EUC and Network Architects , as well as engaging with security teams , solution architects , and enterprise architects to deliver high-level designs.
As an Infrastructure Architect , you will provide expertise and governance for ICT projects, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose , from concept through delivery.
Key Responsibilities Provide infrastructure architectural governance and design leadership for assigned strategic projects.
Offer architectural guidance to multi-functional teams, overseeing build, test, and implementation stages.
Demonstrate value in design decisions at both cost and functional levels .
Ensure technical design assurance for new projects, operational changes, and enhancements.
Develop high- and low-level technical documentation , adhering to VMware Verified Design standards .
Conduct systems reviews to produce As-Is architectural documentation .
Own and direct specific infra architecture elements, including: Microsoft Infrastructure components.
Load balancing solutions.
Access, Identity, and Security controls.
Disaster Recovery (DR) Design.
High Availability solutions.
Your Profile Key Skills/Experience: Proven experience in designing and deploying business-critical, high-availability solutions .
In-depth technical knowledge of Microsoft technologies , such as: Windows Server SQL Active Directory PowerShell Entra ID Microsoft Azure M365 Strong understanding of requirements for core supporting technologies, such as networking , storage , identity management , and security .
Demonstrated track record of successful infrastructure design and delivery.
Excellent ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to diverse stakeholders.
Good to Have: Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., MCSE ).
Certification in TOGAF or equivalent frameworks.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Proactive, energetic, and inquisitive approach.
