Job Overview
We are delighted to advertise for a permanent 7-8a Preceptorship / 8A Highly Specialised Clinical Psychologist position within the 'Complex Emotional and Relational Needs' (CERN) Pathways in Oldham. The successful candidate will be joining the team at an exciting time for psychological therapies. Several national and local policy documents have set out ambitions for whole service re-design, aligned with psychological therapy values and principles leading the development of needs-led services grounded in a biopsychosocial, trauma and attachment/relationally informed approach.
Pennine Care has developed several evidence-based interventions/services specifically for people presenting with CERN needs, including 'Structured Clinical Management' (SCM), 'Dialectical Behaviour Therapy' (DBT), 'Democratic Therapeutic Community' (DTC), 'Mentalisation Based Therapy' (MBT), 'Cognitive Analytic Therapy' (CAT), and 'Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Personality Disorders' (CBT-PD).
Main Duties of the Job The post holder will:
Work closely with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist / Clinical Lead for CERN Pathways Oldham to support and develop the CERN offer. Provide specialist evidence-based psychological interventions for service users presenting with CERN needs, as agreed depending on service priorities. Be an integral part of the 'Structured Clinical Management' (SCM) team offering individual and team clinical supervision, clinical consultation, clinical leadership, governance, and quality assurance. Work closely with other professionals and services that interact with service users presenting with CERN needs, particularly supporting local Community Mental Health Teams by providing regular consultation. Support the development and provision of staff training on CERN needs within the trust. Person Specification Education / Qualifications Essential Criteria Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specific models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychological assessments, and two or more distinct psychological therapies as accredited by the BPS. Desirable Criteria Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training, and/or other fields of applied psychology. Experience Essential Criteria Experience of specialist psychology assessment and treatment across the full range of care settings. Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups across the whole life course presenting problems. Experience of using one of the following models/interventions: DBT, MBT, SCM. Experience of multidisciplinary team working. Desirable Criteria Experience of teaching, training, and/or providing supervision. Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts. Experience of using more than one of the following models/interventions: DBT, MBT, SCM. Knowledge Essential Criteria Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology and complex data analysis in clinical psychology. Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS. Knowledge of the practice implications of National guidance and policy. Training in and knowledge of one of the following models/interventions: DBT, MBT, SCM. Desirable Criteria Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult-to-treat groups. High-level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies. Knowledge of legislation in relation to working-age adults and mental health. Formal training in supervision of other psychologists. Skills and Abilities Essential Criteria Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment and intervention. Well-developed skills in effective communication of complex, clinically sensitive information. Skills in providing one of the following interventions: DBT, MBT, SCM. Ability to teach and train others using a variety of materials. Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance. Desirable Criteria Experience of working within a multicultural framework. Strong interest and experience working with service users with severe/complex needs. Work Related Circumstances Essential Criteria Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint.
