Long-Term teachers are seeking a higher level teaching assistant to provide essential support in the absence of the class teacher.
This fantastic opportunity is at a special educational needs provision in the heart of Exeter, providing high-quality education and support to students aged 7 - 18.
About the role: As a higher level teaching assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting both students and teachers.
You will cover classes in the absence of the class teacher, delivering pre-planned lessons.
You will also be involved in general teaching assistant duties, providing essential support across the school.
The responsibilities of a higher level teaching assistant will go beyond the classroom, including: Assisting with planning and delivering engaging learning activities Mentoring students and helping them unlock their potential Covering classes when needed and leading targeted interventions This rewarding role offers a supportive environment with small class sizes.
You'll work with students who have social, emotional and mental health needs, autism and high levels of anxiety.
Your role is vital in helping students thrive in a tailored learning setting.
Who we're looking for: Level 4 HLTA qualification (or equivalent) Previous experience working with young people in the UK Sound understanding of special educational needs and strategies to support young people Confident in leading a class and managing challenging behaviour A commitment to professional growth - we provide ongoing training and development opportunities A genuine desire to inspire and support young people on their educational journey This is a flexible role, working Monday to Friday, term time only.
