Job summary The Oaks Medical Centre is recruiting to employ a Health Care Assistant for 30 hours per week.Toprovide Health Care Assistant (HCA) services to the practice population(s).Supportedby the nursing team within the practice, the Health Care Assistant (HCA) willdeliver care within the boundaries of their role and in accordance withspecific practice guidelines and protocols.Theywill work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs ofpatients and support the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing HCAguidance as required.
Main duties of the job Responsiblefor the care delivered, demonstrating critical thinking and skills in clinicaldecision making within the parameters of their qualifications and rolerequirements.
Theywill focus upon supporting patients to be healthy by assessing their needs,providing HCA care, health education advice, screening activities, implementingcare at the surgery, community or other settings, maintaining clinicallyaccurate records and running clinics.

Job description Job responsibilities Totake and, where appropriate, despatch laboratory specimens including blood,urine, swabs and other diagnostic tests as required by GPs.
Making sure theyare ready for collection by the designated collection time, or alternativelystoring them in the fridge for next day collection.Settingup the ECG machine to take ECGs and making sure that they have been analysed bya GP.Toadvise patients on health care, minor ailments, health promotion and illnessprevention.Toundertake basic wound care and suture/clip removal, assisting the nurses.Toundertake NHS Health checksToundertake Long Term Condition reviews - such as diabetic reviews.Tomaintain high standards of tidiness, hygiene and safety in the use of allequipment and areas of work, in line with the Practice Health and Safetypolicy, Infection Control Policy as well as all other Practice policies andprocedures.Toundertake any additional duties as may from time to time be deemed necessary,including working across sites.
Toliaise with and communicate effectively with other members of the PrimaryHealth Care Team.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential A to C in English and Maths NVQ/BTEC in healthcare or Experience of healthcare.
