Job summary 2 WTE vacancies: - Head of Planning: Internal NHS Wales Executive Planning - Head of Planning: Regional and National Planning The post holders will provide system leadership in planning across specific areas of focus: Internal NHS Wales Executive wide planning role: Including the development and coordination of; a robust planning cycle for the NHS Executive, an NHS Executive Strategy with supporting annual workplans ensuring collaboration across the NHS Wales Executive to improve healthcare services and Regional and National Planning role: Including close working with the Health, Social Care and Early Years (HSCEY) Group Planning Team in Welsh Government in the national approach to regional working and service change alongside developing National Planning opportunities Main duties of the job The NHS Executive Planning Team provides leadership, strategic and professional management for planning across the NHS Executive as well as with system partners including Welsh Government (WG), Health Boards, Trusts and Special Health Authorities.
The post holder will lead in providing system leadership of planning across specific areas of focus, such as Internal NHS Executive wide planning and strategy development, regional planning & service change and working with HSCEY team in WG on national planning.
This role provides direct management support to the Deputy Director of Planning and will deputise as required.
This role is a senior manager with the NHS Executive and part of the Planning Senior Management Team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge Essential Masters level qualification within relevant field, or equivalent qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and skills or demonstrable experience Leadership or project/programme Management qualification or experience Extensive specialist knowledge over a range of disciplines.
, NHS planning, performance management, programme management, business planning, clinical services, information systems, research & development, finance and HR services Understanding of Welsh Government and organisations principles and standards of governance, policies, strategies, and plans Evidence of and a demonstrated commitment to continued professional development Experience Essential Proven experience in working at national level with peers within NHS Wales and senior Government officials across different disciplines Extensive experience of strategic and system planning at a senior level.
Proven track record of successfully developing strategy, introducing service improvement or successful management of significant organisational change in a complex environment Demonstrate experience of building, maintaining and utilising successful relationships with all staff including senior management and clinicians within complex organisations.
