Job overviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior midwife with a proven track record of strong operational management experience, clinical practice, and governance to join King's College Hospital NHS as Head of Maternity's Governance, Compliance and Assurance.
The principal responsibilities include ensuring maternity services have effective risk and governance processes that fulfill regulatory obligations and withstand external scrutiny, demonstrating high quality and safer maternity services.
This role will provide an excellent opportunity for a proactive and organized individual with great interpersonal skills to influence maternity strategic planning trust-wide as well as across the South East London Local Maternity and Neonatal system.
Main duties of the jobIntegral to the role is ensuring a culture of learning that is effective and responsive to evidenced-based practice and adapts to changes in the national agenda. Other key aspects include:
Promoting compliance, assurance, and transformation through presentations and discussions with large groups of staff.Utilizing the education, risk, and governance teams to provide day-to-day visibility and leadership to Midwifery staff on compliance, assurance, and transformation.Providing expert direction, guidance, and support to the Maternity Department, Neonatal, Sonography, and Anaesthetic colleagues in achieving obligations in relation to National Standards (e.g., Ockenden, CNST, CQC).As line manager to the QI lead midwife, evidencing an agreed QI program management that spans across all areas to show how clinical teams are supported to close gaps in pathways using QI methodology.Person specificationQualifications & ExperienceAn MSc level qualification/postgraduate management qualification or significant progress towards completion of further studies at Masters Level.A proven track record of operational service management at a senior level in an acute hospital environment, including staff management, financial management, and change management.High level of work organization, self-motivation, drive for performance and improvement, and flexibility in approach and attitude.Registered Nurse/Midwife, currently on the NMC Register.Relevant and recent post-registration experience in clinical midwifery practice.Previous involvement in multi-agency working across the health economy at a senior level.European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or equivalent.Significant experience and knowledge of the business planning process.SkillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills with good listening skills.IMPORTANT Check your email account regularly as this is how we will communicate with you.If you delete the job from any of your accounts, you may be prevented from accessing further communications.To enquire about your application or inform us of any changes in your circumstances, please contact the named person on this advert.Please provide email addresses for referees where possible.Please review the documentation on our recruitment microsite, particularly the Trust's criminal records checking policy.All staff have a responsibility for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and for ensuring they are aware of the specific duties relating to their role.Due to a high volume of applications, this advert might close before the displayed closing date.
