Job summary The Head of Cancer Services is the managerial focal point for all cancer related aspects across the Trust and will plan, co-ordinate, manage and develop all aspects of Cancer Services for the Trust in accordance with local and national directives.
Main duties of the job Support to divisional teams to ensure systems and procedures are in place to achieve national cancer waiting time targets.
Accurate data collection, monitoring, validation, reporting of cancer waiting times performance in line with national best practice and guidance.
Ensure responsible executive sign of for national cancer data submission.
Trust compliance against national cancer access, booking and choice targets Manage point of entry for urgent referrals made by a GP 28 Day Faster Diagnostic Standard Ensure processes in place for daily, weekly, monthly reporting and trend analysis of cancer breach, support the divisional teams in corrective action and implementation of rapid improvements plans.
Lead and coordinate a rolling programme of internal, external cancer data quality audits, the outcomes presented at Board level.
Production of the annual cancer report and relevant documentation.
Lead annual quality surveillance programme, providing clarity for the lead cancer tumour site MDT clinicians and divisional teams on the tumour specific measures and work required to prepare MDTs for annual returns.
In partnership with the Trust Lead Cancer Clinician to ensure delivery of all the relevant performance objectives, clinical engagement, key performance indicators, milestones and timely submission of evidence.
In collaboration with CCG commissioners, cancer alliances etc.
ensuring the divisional business plans support the strategic direction of the national cancer agenda.
