Overall Summary: This role demands a technically skilled accountant with strong leadership and collaboration abilities.
Ideally, you would have a background in a top 20 professional services firm, solid understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS (especially around complex areas like revenue recognition and leases), and preferably, industry experience within management consultancy, professional services or the services industry.
You will have strong group consolidation experience and technical knowledge to research and write memos.
Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting and Controls:
Reporting to Head of Financial Reporting and Controls: You'll be a key member of the financial accounting team and contribute to improving financial processes across entities within the group.
Financial Accounting: Manage the financial accounting for specific entities, preparing and reviewing financial statements for these entities.
Consolidation and Group Reporting: Assist in consolidating the financials of acquired entities and support monthly group-level reporting.
Audit Assistance: Participate in interim and year-end audits, liaising with auditors and external advisors, including tax experts.
Technical Accounting:
Technical Matters: Take responsibility for technical accounting topics, such as revenue recognition, acquisition accounting, and lease accounting.
Month-End Processes: Prepare monthly management accounts, including financial statements, variance analysis, and commentary.
Balance Sheet and Profit Reviews: Lead monthly reviews of balance sheets and profit/loss statements for specific entities, including maintaining a fixed asset register Business Process Improvement:
Process Improvement: Drive improvements in financial business processes, systems, and procedures across the group.
Collaboration: Work closely with commercial finance teams to deliver business insights, projects, and results.
This includes preparing divisional financial reports, forecasting, and budgets.
Compliance and Regulatory Requirements:
Internal Controls and Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal processes, controls, and external regulatory standards.
Tax and Legal Compliance: Manage VAT, income tax, and other local tax obligations in coordination with external advisers.
Team Management and Relationships:
Team Leadership: Oversee team members from external acquired entities and manage relationships with external auditors.
Collaborations Across Teams: Develop and maintain relationships with the commercial finance team, project teams, and other departments.
Experience:
ACA or Equivalent Qualified Accountant: You must have a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA) from a Top 20 practice with 1-4 years post-qualified experience, ideally gained in an industry setting.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS is crucial, particularly in the areas of revenue recognition and leases .
Industry Experience (Preferred): Experience in the professional services, consultancy, services or similar sectors with a focus on best practice financial processes would be ideal.
