The Role Bluestone Planning has recently been instructed on a number of new and exciting projects including to deliver community facilities, neighbourhood plans, residential housing developments and planning appeals working for a wide range of clients including private individuals, developers, church groups, charities and local authorities.
This role will involve preparing and submitting planning appraisals, applications and appeals, local plan representations, as well as supporting the delivery of Neighbourhood Plans - all initially the under guidance of a senior colleague who will be there to mentor you through.
The role will also involve assisting with the projects of colleagues and undertaking background research where required.
The role is available on a full-time basis and we operate flexible working arrangements as you progress in the role.
Our office is based in Wantage, in the south west of Oxfordshire (Vale of White Horse District) and as well as working locally, the work will also cover the surrounding counties of Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and further afield.
You will be based in the office but this role may also involve travelling to sites, meetings etc and therefore a clean driving licence and access to a car are desirable.
The role will involve some unsociable hours (generally evening planning committee meetings / client meetings).
Key Duties Researching site constraints, planning policies and site histories.
Writing accurate, knowledgeable and persuasive planning statements.
Submitting planning applications and appeals.
Liaising with planning officers, clients and third-parties.
Supporting senior colleagues to progress projects from inception to completion.
Requirements About You This an excellent opportunity for a recently graduated town planner to join an established small, but growing practice.
The post is particularly suited to someone embarking on a planning career and we would encourage applications from enthusiastic and capable graduates.
Requirements A good understanding of planning objectives and principles.
An understanding of processing applications from preparation to submission.
Good quality written work.

Professional approach to dealing with clients, local authorities etc.
A positive attitude and enthusiasm for planning.

You should be familiar with the main IT packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc).
Interest in / ability to use GIS software would be a benefit but is not essential.
