Become a Chartered Civil Engineer and gain valuable hands-on experience that will help shape the nations infrastructure.
What Youll Be Doing On our three-year Civil Engineering graduate programme, youll build your knowledge and experience through a series of inspirational placements with National Highways and our supply chain.
Youll mix study with real life work across a variety of exciting, complex projects and infrastructure renewal programmes on the strategic road network.
Guided and mentored by qualified engineers, youll take on projects and responsibilities that will help you achieve the professional attributes and experience for chartership with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
Youll get plenty of hands-on opportunities to apply your learning, use innovative engineering technologies and develop your skills in: Management and Leadership Understanding Practical Application of Engineering Commercial Ability Health Safety and Welfare Sustainable Development Interpersonal Skills and Communication Professional Commitment Beyond the programme, youll have opportunities to continue your career journey with us, providing safe, innovative engineering solutions and expertise that will shape the strategic road network of tomorrow.

What youll need to succeed If you have the passion and dedication to succeed, youll be a great match for our programme.
To be successful, youll have: An enthusiastic, collaborative approach to working with others The ability to communicate in different formats with a variety of stakeholders Excellent problem-solving skills The ability to plan and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines A focus on quality and integrity in everything you do Youll also need to meet these essential qualification requirements: A 2:2 or above in civil engineering (accredited as a base for CEng learning) undergraduate degree plus a Masters (accredited or approved by a professional institution) or an equivalent level of further learning.
Assessment centres will take place in January and February.
To be eligible for a place on the programme, you must be available to attend the 4-day induction, 8th -11th September All offers for our graduate programmes are subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks, including Right to Work, reference, and DBS criminal record checks.
Due to the salary level of this role, we cannot offer sponsorship for the position for individuals that don't have the Right to Work in the UK.
Successful candidates will require Right to Work for the duration of the programme.
