WHAT WE DO Gneiss Energy offers specialized advisory services to both private and public market companies, with a core focus on: Capital Raising Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Asset Acquisitions & Disposals (A&D) Strategic Advisory Debt Advisory Energy Transition Advisory Enhanced Valuation & Risk Management Our firm brings extensive corporate finance, operational, and technical expertise across various energy sectors, including: Renewables, Cleantech & Sustainability Oil & Gas Energy Services & Infrastructure Metals & Mining THE ROLE We are offering an office-based internship for a 13-week period between May and September.
Candidates must have the right to work in the UK in 2025 and be available to work from our Edinburgh office for the entire internship.
Interns will be responsible for discrete, value-add projects with clear deliverables.
Key responsibilities include: Assisting the team with analysis, research, and due diligence for internal projects, live transactions, and pitches.
Preparing, building, and reviewing presentations and information memoranda for internal and external audiences.
Supporting transactional due diligence and assisting with deal documentation.
Gathering and synthesizing financial and operational information on companies, assets, industries, and projects.
Conducting in-depth market research and data analysis to track trends and support transaction valuation and pricing.
Participating in team discussions and client meetings.
Researching and updating CRM databases.
Undertaking other analyst duties such as gathering trading and transaction comparables, asset screening, value-chain mapping, and preparing new business proposals.
Assisting in general office operations.
QUALIFICATIONS Required Skills and Experience: Ideally a final-year or penultimate-year student with an excellent academic record.
Pursuing a Bachelor's/Master's degree with a focus on numerical subjects, finance, or economics.
Interest in a career within financial services and/or the broader energy sector.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting financial data.
Strong analytical and numerical abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Results-oriented with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Committed to producing high-quality work while upholding professional and ethical standards.
Ability to operate effectively in a formal environment and engage professionally with senior industry counterparts.
High initiative and strong planning and organizational skills.
Fluency in English.
Desirable Skills and Experience: Prior experience in investment banking, consulting, energy, or related transaction services is highly preferred.
Experience in financial modelling.
