Job Description Purpose Reporting to the Fabrication Supervisor, the fabricator will be expected to be flexible and be multi skilled in various metalwork techniques.
This role will involve supporting all departments throughout the proving ground with work ranging from operation of lathe and milling machine, to welding fabricating various items using MIG and TIG welding plants.
It is expected that all work enters and leaves within agreed times and is of the highest quality, whist maintaining H&S standards at all times. Responsibilities Carry out day to day fabrication of parts as requested from various sources and customers.
Welding using various techniques Aluminium welding / fabrication Vehicle body shell modifications and reworks Complete vehicle body tear downs Write up completed work tickets to record in detail work carried out Liaise with engineering staff regarding work requests Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC staff at all times Qualifications Qualifications Formal fabrication or welding qualifications Completed relevant apprenticeship Core competencies: Welding ( TIG, MIG, Gas) including aluminium General Turning and milling experience Good overall sheet metal skills Able to read technical drawings Good general IT skills (including MS Word and Excel) Flexible, self-driven and reliable Good communicator Advantageous Qualities: Automotive experience would be an advantage Experience with prototype and one off work Confident in writing Risk assessments and an awareness of COSHH Strong awareness of Health and Safety regulations Personal Behaviours: To work as a team member as well as on your own following instruction and direction from lead technician and supervision Flexible and self-driven Reliable Other: Full UK driving licence & own transport (UTAC Millbrook is not easily assessable via public transport) Willing to do overtime including weekends Flexibility to travel as and when required SC clearance or ability to achieve this (UK national with residency in the UK for the last 5 years) Willing to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check Additional Information For you, as a potential UTAC team member, we believe that the international and diverse nature of our business combined with the passion, energy and friendliness of our people create a great place to work.
