Our team at Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) is seeking an Environmental Specialist who will be responsible for managing environmental compliance at our facilities within the UK & IE.
This role entails 50% travel to multiple sites across the UK/Ireland and requires an individual with excellent English written and verbal communication skills, including comfortable interfacing with site and regional leaders.
The Environmental Specialist will report to the Environmental Leader for the UK through the EU Environmental Assurance and Protection team and partner with the operations leadership teams to execute company environmental procedures and ensure compliance with all applicable specific country, state/province, region, and local regulations.
Key responsibilities of this role include: • Managing and executing multi-site responsibilities to comply with air emissions, stormwater, waste, wastewater, and other environmental related laws, regulations, and permits.
• Participating in the development, introduction, control, improvement, and application of environmental management control systems, procedures, processes, and products.
• Measuring and analyzing sites' performance against published requirements in environmental policies.
For all deficiencies, identifying a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.
• Cooperating in contacts with the authorities and in the implementation of any notification, permission, and approval procedures according to environmental law (water / waste water, pollution control, waste).
• Participating in the annual data collection and reporting (internal, external) as well as controls (measurements, reviews) on environmentally relevant issues.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in civil, chemical, or environmental engineering or a related field of engineering study and experience serving as an environmental technical resource, program specialist, or program manager.
Experience in engaging with Regulatory Agencies in permit applications and broad knowledge of EU environmental regulations are also preferred.
The role requires the ability to manage multiple sites/remotely and to influence peers and superiors.
