Our team is seeking an Environmental Specialist who will beresponsible for managing environmental compliance at AmazonTransportation Services (ATS) Facilities within the UK & IE.They will also provide technical support at our existing operationsand future expansion across the UK.
TheEnvironmental Specialist will report to the Environmental Leaderfor the UK through the EU Environmental Assurance and Protectionteam.
The Environmental Specialist willalso partner with the operations leadership teams to executecompany environmental procedures and ensure compliance with allapplicable specific country, state/province, region and localregulations.
Utilizing risk assessments and compliance evaluations,this individual will lead site specific continuous improvementinitiatives to minimize environmental aspects and impacts andcommunicate and implement best practices.
They must be able to workwith the teams to ensure success for business support.
This roleentails 50% travel to multiple sites across the UK/Ireland.
Responsibilities: • Manage andexecute multi-site responsibilities to comply with air emissions,stormwater, waste, wastewater and other environmental related laws,regulations and permits.
This includes required Country,State/Province and local reporting • Participate in thedevelopment, introduction, control, improvement and application ofenvironmental management control systems, procedures, processes andproducts • Measure and analyze sites' performanceagainst published requirements in environmental policies.
For alldeficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix allidentified deficiencies • Cooperate in contacts with theauthorities and in the implementation of any notification,permission and approval procedures according to environmental law(water / waste water, pollution control, waste) •Participate in the annual data collection and reporting (internal,external) as well as controls (measurements, reviews) onenvironmentally relevant issues.
Key jobresponsibilities •Assist in the implementation andenforcement of standards and policies to support environmental andregulatory compliance and provide guidance for operations,maintenance and construction teams.
• Completeenvironmental inspections and performance analysis, monitormetrics, undertake waste activities for the site and facilitatesite implementation of Amazon environmental standards.
•Manage and execute site responsibilities to comply with airemissions, surface water, wastewater, waste and other environmentalrelated laws, regulations and permits.
• Manage andprepare site specific environmental reporting to regulators andwithin Amazon.
• Manage waste management activities,classification, reporting and permitting requirements.
•Execute waste, surface water site inspections.
• Monitorand provide guidance on site performance against applicableenvironmental regulations, programs and Amazon globalstandards.
• Support other sites with environmentalcompliance.
• Ensure site leadership and employees'training.
• Analyse environmental metrics and reviewweekly and monthly trends to determine where improvements areneeded.
• Execute site specific tasks associated with theimplementation of Environmental Programs.
• Identify aplan for the site to implement and fix all identifieddeficiencies.
•Up to 50% domestic travelrequired.

The ability to flex is essential in this role,as priorities will change on an almost daily basis and as a team,we need to be able to respondaccordingly.
About the team TheEnvironmental Assurance and Protection team protects Amazonbusinesses and supports the needs of our customers by proactivelymitigating environmental regulatory risks and protecting theenvironment.
BASICQUALIFICATIONS • A completed Bachelor's Degreein civil, chemical or environmental engineering or related field ofengineering study • Experience serving as anenvironmental technical resource, program specialist, or programmanager • Excellent English written and verbalcommunication skills, including comfortable interfacing with siteand regional leaders • In depth knowledge of EU, countryand region specific regulations • Experience in engagingwith Regulatory Agencies in permitapplications PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS • Broad knowledge of EU environmentalregulations • Experience in warehouse operations andlogistics is preferred • Proficient in Microsoft Officeand the use of pivot tables and the development of charts andgraphics • Ability to manage multiplesites/remotely • Must be detailed minded and technicallyoriented to comfortably deep dive with engineering teams tounderstand operations process for environmental riskassessment.
