Job summary University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity to join the current ENT team based at Furness General Hospital, on the doorstep of the Lake District.
The Lake District is England's largest National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site.

.You will work Cross Bay with Furness General Hospital as the main site.
You will be contracted for 10 sessions per week with the option to increase along with service needs.
The post holder will need to have a broad experience in general ENT.
Any subspecialty interest will be actively supported Interview date TBC Main duties of the job You will work as part of the ENT team to provide a highquality ENT service that aims to provide excellent patient care.
Thisincludes delivery of out-patient, emergency, day-case and inpatientservices independently.
You will be expected to manage your own workprogramme within the broad parameters of Department policiesand procedures, and will be responsible for determining theassociated work activities using their initiative.
Working Hours: As job plan On-call: 1:5 on call weekends and 1:4 weekdays with prospectivecover The anticipated job plan is included but may be subject to changesand involve working at other sites within the UHMB community About us We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery.
In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals.
Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.

You can also read more information about University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay visiting our website Person Specification Qualifications Essential Full GMC registration with a licence to practise at time of appointment Entry on the GMC specialist register or be within six months of obtaining your CCT at the time of interview FRCS or an equivalent appropriate higher surgical qualification Desirable FRCS in otolaryngology Evidence of audit and research experience Higher professional qualification in ENT surgery, Teaching or Research and education Experience Essential Significant experience in management of ENT Experience of working in a multi disciplinary team Evidence of involvement and experience in audit Desirable Developed area of specialist interest Have previous employment in the NHS Broad based ENT exposure for adults, paeds and emergencies Professional Values & Behaviours Essential Practices with professional values and behaviours expected of all doctors as set out in GMC Good Medical Practice and Generic Professional Capabilities Framework (or equivalent for Dentists) Demonstrates the underpinning subject-specific competencies , knowledge, skills, and behaviours relevant to the role setting and scope Clinically evaluates and manages a patient, formulating a prioritised differential diagnosis, initiating an appropriate management plan, and reviewing and adjusting this depending of outcomes of treatment.
Manages the difficulties of dealing with complexity and uncertainty in the care of patients, employing expertise and clinical decision-making skills of a senior and independent autonomous practitioner.
Critically reflects on own competence, understands own limits, and seeks help when required Communicates effectively and can share decision making with patients, relatives, and carers Respects patients' dignity ensures confidentiality and appropriate communication where potential barriers exist.
Adheres to professional requirements, participating in annual appraisal, job planning and reviews of performance and progression Leadership & Teamworking Essential Awareness of leadership responsibilities as a clinician and demonstrates appropriate leadership behaviour Develops effective relationships across teams and contributes to work and success of these teams - promotes and participates in both MDT and interprofessional team working.

Wide Range of Training in surgery demonstrated with SAC log book Commitment to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training Desirable Accredited teaching experience Suitable and mandatory courses as per ENT SAC curriculum Evidence of previous teaching Patient Safety & Quality Improvement Essential Takes prompt action where there is an issue with the safety or quality of patient care, raises and escalates concerns through clinical governance systems where necessary.
Collaborates with MDT and interprofessional teams to manage risks and issues across organisations and settings Evaluates and audits own and others clinical practice and acts on findings.
