The Mental Health Support Teams in Manchester, Salford and Trafford will form part of a Thrive In Education model working in an integrated manner with our partnership agencies from the voluntary sector and provide 'Getting Help' and 'Getting Advice' as part of the MFT Thrive offer.
The Thrive In Education team will work flexibly in and around several educational settings, working alongside education colleagues to develop and provide preventive and early help support to meet the needs of their pupils experiencing low intensity mental health issues, mainly anxiety, low mood and emotional regulation.
A multi professional team around the school has been developed to work collaboratively to support schools including professionals from Educational Psychology, Early Help, 42nd Street, Mind and Place2Be.
Main duties of the job This post in based with the Salford I-Reach team wihich forms part of the Thrive In Education offer across Salford schools and education settings.
The Thrive In Education Teams will have three core functions:- Delivering evidence based interventions for mild to moderate mental health presentations Supporting the mental health leads in each school/college to support a whole school approach to wellbeing and mental health.
Providing timely advice and guidance to school/education staff and liaising with specialist services to support children and young people to receive effective support to remain in education.
The Thrive In Education Teams will mainly deliver low intensity, short-term, evidence based interventions to Children and Young People in education settings as well as providing rapid access to relevant specialist mental health services via a Single Point Of Contact.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential An Education Mental Health Practitioner A Children and Young Persons Wellbeing Practitioner Desirable Degree educated in relevant area such as Psychology, Health and Social Care, Child Development Experience Essential Proven experience of working effectively with people with mental health difficulties.
Experience of delivering low intensity interventions in school and education environments as part of IAPT training Experience of assessing and managing risk: including safeguarding.
Experience of gathering clinical evidence, reports and information as part of signposting to other internal or external pathways.
Experience of providing evidenced based assessments, formulations and treatment packages Experience of liaison and working with a range of other relevant agencies within a community model.
Experience of caseload management, working within a multi-disciplinary mental health setting Understanding of Clinical Governance and impact on clinical practice.
Desirable Experience of providing interventions for children and young people with mental health problems and their families in CAMHS or a community setting Knowledge, Skills and Ability Essential Up to date knowledge of child mental health and relevant legislation Understanding of evidence-based practice and the ability to demonstrate how this influences clinical practice The ability to assess, formulate and manage care appropriately, ensuring discharge is timely and planned.
The ability to use assessment tools and outcome measures effectively and in collaboration with the child, young person and family To be able to function as a part of a multi-disciplinary community team and to liaise effectively with other agencies , education, GP's, maintaining positive working relationships The ability to reflect on and critically appraise the performance of self Ability to manage and organise own time and diary The ability to follow trust policies and procedures The ability to work independently in school settings with the support of case management supervision The ability to maintain clinical records both written and electronic Desirable Experience of delivering training and /or group work Demonstrable therapeutic skills IT competent Knowledge and understanding of the research process Personal Attributes Essential A commitment to undertake further relevant training and self-directed study A willingness to contribute to the ongoing development of the Thrive In Education team Punctual and flexible across hours of work when required Work Related Circumstance Essential Use of a car or access to a means of travel across the Borough in line with service needs The ability to work outside normal working hours to support schools As part of Manchester University Foundation Trust Policy, the post will be subject to a DBS check due to the nature of the work and direct contact with vulnerable children, young people and families
