Job summary The post holder is expected to provide foundation cardiac physiology services for a range of non-complex tests in the ECG Department.The main area of focus will be providing skilled ECG Holter Analysis for our Cardiology diagnostic testing services, interpreting ECG recordings and creating reports for a wide range of clinicians in the Trust.There will be occasional requirements for helping with patient care, advice and assisting with other ECG services.
This includes doing ECGs, fitting blood pressure and Holter monitoring, including the setting up and initiating of cardiac recording devices, as well as enabling results to be transferred to other systems for analysis.The post holder will also be expected to help ensure the ECG Team equipment is logged, cleaned and kept to a high standard.Overall, the post holder should expect to be providing a high quality, patient focused comprehensive Holter analysis service within Cardiac Physiology.
Main duties of the job The ECG Associate Practitioner role is a skilled foundation clinical role within our healthcare science department.
The post holder will use their ECG interpretation skills and knowledge.
The majority of the workload will consist of downloading, analysing, interpreting and reporting on a range of ECG recording tests, from 24hr to 30-day recordings, on both inpatients and outpatients.
The post holder will be expected to have or working towards a qualification, such as ECG diploma.The post holder will be expected to make simple clinical judgements on the Holters they report on, to determine risk level for the patients and follow departmental escalation policies, to prioritise patient care and safety.Clinical work will also sometimes be carried out directly with patients.
The post holder will perform, analyse, interpret and compare simple foundation investigative and clinical options, received in routine and occasionally in non-routine ways ECG or Holter tests on wards and outpatients.
The post holder can expect to be following local proformas, workflows and guidelines for patient management, acquired through formal in-house training.
Work will need to be prioritised and escalated in line with department guidance.The post holder will have opportunities for personal development and training for the post and will be expected to engage fully with the inhouse competences and training program.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Qualifications must show training and experience equivalent to NVQ Level 3, Vocational level 3, GCE AS and A level or Baccalaureate Qualification Advanced or equivalent level of knowledge.

Experience Essential Evidence of previous experience of working in an ECG dept doing Holter Analysis such as in a hospital or GP Surgery Evidence of experience of prioritising workload and escalating issues where needed, especially related to Holter Analysis findings Evidence of working with patients in a kind and compassionate fashion.
Evidence ability to carry out non-invasive tests at a simple foundation level including fitting and interpreting ECG and BPs, and Holters.
