Job Title: Designated Safeguarding and Pastoral Lead Location: Meldreth, Cambridgeshire / Hertfordshire border Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum Hours: 40 hours per week -- Monday to Friday - Permanent - Full year role We are currently seeking a Designated Safeguarding & Pastoral Lead to join the leadership team across a specialist education service in Meldreth, taking responsibility for the management of safeguarding issues both on and off site.
The role: As Designated Safeguarding and Pastoral Lead, you will be working within the senior leadership team supporting staff and students in positive behaviour management.
Key Duties To development the improvement of individual and site practice around behaviour and safeguarding and be responsible for policy implementation of these elements To coordinate the effective implementation of the Attendance Policy.
To provide rapid response to staff when a child is in need of additional support.
To monitor and report on students out of class.
To provide a physical presence on the school site during the school day, especially during breaks and lunch time.
To pro-actively liaise with parents/carers To provide relevant behaviour and safeguarding training to staff through CPD.
To provide support to students who are struggling to engage with classes and staff in cooperation with the clinical team with the aim of re-engagement in class.
To provide data for SLT and Governors.
To ensure that all relevant compliance has been completed with the support of the school business manager in the completion of educational visits (EVCs) To be the schools LAC Designated Lead To cover lessons to prevent using agency To co-ordinate interventions taking whole school responsibility for targeted support on EHCPs.

Qualifications: GCSE (or equivalent) in English & Maths DSL training level 3 or above and experience working as a DSL.
Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or working with children and young people (Desirable) Proven track record of excellent creative and structured pastoral interventions within relevant special needs environment.
Experience of holding responsibility for and turning policy into effective and successful practice.
Leadership in a residential setting such as a Childrens Home or Adult Care Home Communicating effectively to a wide range of different audiences though a range of different mediums and managing relationships with various external agencies.
Successful management of complex scenarios and conflict resolution as well as experience of using effective behaviour and teaching strategies.
Understanding of the implementation of ASD intervention and support strategies (TEACCH, attention Autism or other similar).
Experience of OFSTED & CQC inspections and following action planning.
