The Sirona Dermatology Service leads on best practice patient-centred care in the management of dermatological treatments in the community. The specialist nurses provide support and advice for community nurses, practice nurses, nurses within care homes, and patients managing any type of wound. The team works alongside a wider Skin Integrity Services (SIS) team within Sirona care & health with the aim of providing integrated skin services across the specialities of wound care, lymphoedema, and dermatology.
The Dermatology Service currently runs Monday to Friday 0800-1700.
The Dermatology Service main hub is in Knowle and holds clinics in Portishead, South Bristol, North Bristol, and South Gloucestershire. The post holder will work across the Sirona geographical area.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will provide assessment, treatment planning, and advice for patients who have been referred into the Dermatology Service, with the support and guidance of the specialist nurses within the team. They will be working in a variety of community settings including patients' homes, clinics, GP practices, nursing, and residential homes to support the delivery of excellent dermatology care across the Sirona care and health population.
The post holder should have a passion for dermatology; they will be mentored by specialist nurses to develop their knowledge and skills in all aspects of dermatological care. Once competent and confident, they will be carrying out assessments in different settings, including home visits, joint visits (both in patients' homes and GP surgeries), and clinics for non-housebound patients. Assessments will include DLQI, PASI, and a full skin assessment.
