Job summary The Deputy Freedom to Speak Up (FTSU) Guardian will assist with the provision of a business-focused service in relation to speaking up within the Trust.
The post holder will ensure that current best practice approaches are adopted and applied within their area of responsibility and will have a desire to provide a service that reflects the needs of the business, supports operational delivery.
The post holder is responsible for supporting the Lead Guardian in the development and implementation of an effective and innovative approach to speaking up.
The post holder is also required to convey complex and sensitive information within a wide range of internal and external stakeholder groups for the purposes of communication, negotiation and influence and must be a role model and champion of Trust values, who displays integrity and the ability to successfully challenge and confront when appropriate.
Main duties of the job The Deputy FTSU Guardian will ensure that concerns raised are handled in accordance with the National Guardian Office requirements with the aim of supporting the Trusts Freedom to Speak Up activities to: Protect patient safety and the quality of care Improve the experience of workers Promote learning and improvement The Deputy FTSU Guardian will also ensure that: Workers are supported in speaking up Barriers to speaking up are addressed A positive culture of speaking up is fostered Matters raised are used as opportunities for learning and improvement About us University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is one of the largest and most modern in the country.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Educated to degree level / or equivalent relevant work experience Desirable Clinically qualified healthcare professional Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience Essential Knowledge of speaking up agenda, training, policies and raising awareness Knowledge of GDPR and confidentiality Desirable Evidence of supporting colleagues to raise issues of concern Personal Qualities Essential Ability to have the courage to speak truthfully and challenge appropriately (Personal Qualities) max 2 points
