Job Title: Rail Depot Manager Location: Brighton, UK Salary: £88-£93k + Free Train Travel + Great Pension Scheme Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Rail Depot Manager to lead our team at the Brighton Rail Depot.
This key leadership position is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of our depot, overseeing all aspects of maintenance, logistics, and staff management.
We're open to strong managers from other sectors with production such as aviation, automotive, bus, military or marine.
Key Responsibilities: Depot Operations: Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry regulations.
Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff.
Promote a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, professional development, and continuous improvement.
Safety Compliance: Oversee all safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to maintain the highest safety standards.
Maintenance Management: Coordinate and monitor all maintenance activities to ensure rolling stock is in peak condition.
Implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
Budget Management: Develop and manage the depot's budget, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising safety or quality.
Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, to ensure smooth and effective depot operations.
Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
Qualifications and Experience: Proven experience in a managerial role within the rail industry, preferably in depot or maintenance operations.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
In-depth knowledge of rail safety regulations and maintenance standards.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
Budget management experience is essential.
A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
