Data Center Technician | 12-Month Initial Contract | Reading | Inside IR35 Overview: Experis is collaborating with a renowned Global IT Services Provider to recruit an experienced Data Center Technician for an initial 12-month contract .
This is a fully on-site role based in the Reading area , offering an excellent opportunity to work within a cutting-edge data center environment.
Key Responsibilities: As a Data Center Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining, supporting, and improving data center operations.
Specific duties include: Hardware Maintenance and Break Fix: Troubleshooting and repairing servers, ensuring timely hardware fault resolution.
Server Setup and Decommissioning: Provisioning, racking, stacking, configuring, and decommissioning servers and redundant equipment.
Support Trainee Engineers: Providing guidance and training to trainee data center engineers as required.
Expert Hardware Support: Delivering specialist support and coordinating hardware replacements as necessary.
Operational Coordination: Ensuring the efficient operation of the data center by collaborating with the support team and liaising with engineers across other sites.
Managing incoming calls and emails related to data center support issues.
Coordinating with third-party suppliers to report and escalate customer issues.
Customer Service Excellence: Responding to customer issues within defined SLAs.
Providing proactive updates to customers regarding service resolutions.
Escalating unresolved tickets to second-line teams while ensuring monitoring and closure.
Process Adherence: Following established escalation processes and maintaining quality and efficiency in all technical and service delivery activities.
Shift Patterns: This role operates on a rotational shift basis , ensuring 24/7 coverage.
Shifts include: Early: 07:00 to 14:30 Late: 14:30 to 22:00 Weeknight: 22:00 to 07:00 Weekend Day: 07:00 to 19:00 Weekend Night: 19:00 to 07:00 Additional Details: This is a temporary-to-permanent role , offering long-term growth opportunities for successful candidates.
Candidates must be proactive, detail-oriented, and skilled in managing technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Skills and Experience Required: Proven experience in server maintenance and troubleshooting across HP, Dell, and IBM platforms.
Familiarity with data center operations, including server provisioning and configuration.
Strong customer service skills and ability to work effectively under SLAs.
Team player with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
