Cooper Glasgow Competitive package Coopering of casks is an age-old skill, the nuances of which have seen little change over the centuries. Our clients are fortunate to be one of only four distilleries in Scotland to have their own on-site cooperage. Their team of seasoned professionals and eager apprentices carefully manage the quality of all of the casks to ensure that the whisky is maintained to the highest possible standards. Their expert team examines every new cask that arrives on-site, carries out repairs and maintenance on oak casks from all over the world, and even rejuvenates casks using their De-char / Re-char (DCRC) process. Each year, the team maintains and repairs over 30,000 casks, which is absolutely vital in creating quality and consistency in their whisky maturation.
This distillery is unique in the whisky industry. Unlike most other distilleries which will produce either a malt or a grain liquid, this distillery can produce both on the same site. There is capacity to produce c. 20m l/a of grain and 5m l/a of malt, while running both processes concurrently. The distillery makes up part of the site, which includes the functions of warehousing, filling, blending, and a cooperage. The role of Cooper will be based in the main functional area of the warehousing site. Annually, approx. 16m l/a is filled into casks in readiness for maturation.
They are looking for a time-served Cooper to join the team and be part of the warehousing team, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the warehousing site.
