Applications are invited for a Consultant that specialises in Stroke Medicine to join a friendly, innovative team at a Trust based in Somerset.

Somerset is surrounded by the exceptionally beautiful countryside, the town centre has a lot to offer with a combination of new and old.
There is a direct rail line to London, Waterloo with the journey only taking around two hours.
Road communications are good, the A303 going west into Devon and Cornwall and east into Wiltshire, Hampshire, linking with the M3 for London.

Yeovil offers some of the best schools in the country ranging from public to award winning state schools such as Richard Huish College.

The Trust is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic candidate with MBBS and MRCP or equivalent.
The successful candidate must have a depth of clinical experience in General Medicine and a special interest that will complement those existing in the department.
Ideally you will have experience at locum consultant level.

In return the Trust offers the following:

A friendly team of 7 consultant stroke physicians (plus 1 experienced associate specialist), including two doctors who have an excellent reputation with the Stroke Sentinel National Audit Programme (SSNAP) team.Excellent relationships between colleagues with agreed protocols for timely brain imaging (including MRI), carotid imaging and CT-angiograms.
The Trust has recently developed the capability to perform CT perfusion imaging.Strong links with the Tertiary Centre and a well-established referral pathway for thrombectomy.Multi-disciplinary training programme supported by ex-patients, enabling junior staff to gain essential clinical experience in a non-threatening environment.
A similar programme for paramedics has also proved very successful and soon to be expanded across the region.Numerous opportunities for research (both sites have a broad portfolio of multicentre research studies in the areas of hyper-acute, acute care, and rehabilitation).There is an annual training allowance to enable attendance at regional, national and international stroke meetings / conferences to ensure the day-to-day care provided is evidence based and network opportunities are maximised. Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice.

For candidates who reside abroad, you must have completed the necessary language test (IELTS / OET / NARIC) before applying.
You must be able to satisfy the language test requirements of the UKVI remit.
