We are looking for an experienced, committed, and adaptable Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at HMS Drake Barracks, His Majestys (HM) Naval Base Devonport, Plymouth.
This is a part-time position offering 20 hours per week.

Main duties of the jobThisposition is the senior clinical decision maker within the department. Without this post being filled there would bea significant reduction in the ability of the Defence Community Mental Health (DCMH)to provide clinical and advisory support or supervise other Mental Health activities.

Job responsibilitiesThe main duties include but are not limited to:
Providing effective care, withan approach based on recovery and rehabilitation, to Service Personnel (SP) andentitled civilians, with timely access to skilled and effective assessment,treatment and occupational recommendations that meets the needs of the individualand the Chain of Command (CoC).Undertaking research in mentalhealth and mental wellbeing.Acting in a command liaisonrole to support both case management and organisational initiatives, includinghealth promotion aimed at mental wellbeing and welfare as resources allow.Providing clinical educationto primary care staff to enhance their capability to manage mental healthproblems, and to support their responsibilities in addressing the mentalwellbeing of all personnel.For full list of duties and responsibilities please refer to Job description and person specification attached.

All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6-month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date.

Access to the NHS pension scheme is available to the successful candidate.
There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.
The post does NOT offer relocation expenses (move of home, excess fares or temporary transfer). Non Standard move applicants will be eligible for the full package, subject to eligibility.
As a result of the changes to the UK immigration rules which came into effect on 1 January 2021, the Ministry of Defence will only offer sponsorship for a skilled worker visa under the points-based system, where a role has been deemed to be business critical.
