About The Role

UNLOCK YOUR BEST WORK LIFE MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO EVERY LIFE We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our healthcare team at HMP Thameside, a category B resettlement prison in South-East London, based close to Woolwich Arsenal and Plumstead stations. The prison houses around 1250 patients aged 17 plus, including an 18 bed inpatient, where a high proportion of patients have acute mental health needs. Within this role, you will be working closely with a fully staffed and well-established mental health team, spending around 70% of your time being patient-facing. HMP Thameside is a busy and fast-paced environment, so the role would suit someone who is adaptable and has a keen interest in developing the mental health service.

Hours Monday- Friday 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm. We can consider both part-time and full-time applicants for this role.

Salary This position is full-time, and you'll receive an annual salary up to £180,000 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

What you'll be doing As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

Provide excellent clinical care, assessment, and treatment to patients on the case load onsite Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments, and provide clinical supervision Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi-professional complex case reviews. Qualifications required Registered professional with current registration (GMC) Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983 Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working Up-to-date knowledge in adult psychiatry and PD Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy, and legislation Secure environments are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work.
