EPUT is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate Consultant Psychiatrist to join and lead on Crisis Response Service (CRS) and Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP). This is a split post working equally at 0.5 WTE for CRS within the Urgent care pathway and 0.5 ETE for EIP covering the Colchester and Tendring districts.
Main duties of the jobCrisis Response is accessed by dialling 111. Callers are directed to select Mental Health option 2 which will take them directly to EPUT Crisis Response service which will assess their needs. This team has been operational since July 2020. There are on average about 100 referrals to the team in a month and most of these are dealt with by the members of the team. The number of cases that require medical inputs have varied between 10-15 a week.
The Early Intervention in Psychosis is a very well established service, it covers the North East Essex locality and cares for anyone over the age of 14 through to 65. North East Essex comprises of the boroughs of Colchester and Tendring. The core objective of the service is to deliver a standalone EIP model in line with a new EPUT community model of care which sets out to work with key partners in both statutory and the voluntary sectors to create more healthy and resilient communities, whilst maximising opportunities to provide care closer to home.
The post holder will be expected to work closely with staff in both services to ensure the provision of a safe and effective service.

Job responsibilitiesAttend twice-weekly MDT meetings to discuss and support the ongoing care of patients.Provide regular clinics to review patients via CPA process.Provide flexible emergency medical support for the teams' patients.Support patients under the MHA and the processes required under the MHA.Support clinically and supervise your trainee doctor and SAS doctors.Work collaboratively with Primary Care.Liaise with other services within the organisation and outside to optimize the care of your patients.Patch Consultants are expected to be available to deal with problems arising with patients under their clinical responsibility from Monday to Friday during working hours.Person SpecificationTRANSPORTHolds and will use valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative.QualificationsMB BS or equivalent medical qualification.Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.On the Specialist Register with qualifications General Adult.Postgraduate degree in psychiatry MRC Psych or equivalent.ELIGIBILITYFully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment.Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment.In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.CLINICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCEExcellent oral and written communication skills in English.Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
