An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Forensic Intellectual and Neurodevelopmental Disorders (FIND) Service.
The service consists of three teams- Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT), Forensic Personality Disorder Service (FPDS) and FIND.
Over the last 5 years FPDS and SCFT have expanded and FIND expansion is planned for 2024/2025.
FIND is a regional service serving Devon (incl.
Plymouth), Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
The FIND service delivers a care pathway service for both men and women with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and/or Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).
The service works with these patients in order to optimise length of stay and the forensic care pathway.
A key aim is to reduce the use of out-of-area or specialist placements and for efficient use of South West network beds.
Currently the FIND service offers Signposting and advice (Tier 1), Consultation, training and supervision (Tier 2), Joint work, Care pathway management and Access assessment (Tier 3).
When the FIND team has undergone the planned expansion, they will also hold a small caseload of Tier 4 Care co-ordination.
The post-holder will join an exciting & highly motivated team in delivering a range of care in a well-established tiered system.
There will have a capped caseload of patients and act as community RC for this cohort.
It is anticipated that the post-holder will be a key stakeholder in shaping growth, development & expansion of the service.
Main duties of the job This post offers an opportunity to develop and provide clinical leadership for the service.
They will join the Secure service on-call rota which has middle and junior grades on-call system embedded in it.
They will join the diverse and dynamic RC/consultant group of the Secure service as part of clinical leadership team of the Service.
The service is commissioned by the South West Provider Collaborative (SWPC), which allows the post-holder to contribute to regional strategic developments.
Providing clinical leadership alongside colleagues to the FIND team.
Act as Responsible Clinician for the Devon Tier 4 caseload under the FIND teams care.
Facilitate care pathway management, including specialist advice and liaison, consultation, regarding the care pathway of the Devon (inc Plymouth) and Cornwall Secure LDA cohort.
Attendance at weekly team and service meetings in line with job plan.
Role in centralised Community Forensic Service triaging function and completion of access assessments.
Role in consultation/training and pathway advice.
Role in Care planning and treatment formulation, including guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
Liaison and collaborative working with other services/agencies.
Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act implementation.
Multi-disciplinary, multi-agency and partnership working.
Role in specialist forensic risk assessment, formulation and mitigation.
Other roles that may develop as part of care for the cohort.

Qualifications Essential Full Registration with the General Medical Council.
To hold Approved Clinician status at the point of taking up post.
Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview.
Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
Desirable MRCPsych.
Other professional qualification (eg CBT, PSI, CAT).
CCT in Learning Disability Psychiatry / Forensic Psychiatry.
