London SW17 0YG Main duties of the job The SWL St George's Eating Disorders Service has a national and international reputation as a centre of excellence in treatment of eating disorders.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a consultant psychiatrist to join the Children and Young Persons Community Eating Disorders Service (CYP-CEDS), the specialist community eating disorder service for children and young people aged up to 18y.
The team is highly specialist, with a particular focus on evidence-based NICE-concordant treatment, and collaborative working with service users, families and partner agencies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities Medical leadership within the team, together with the clinical lead.
Direct assessments and leading a multi-disciplinary (MDT) mini-team assessment clinic to provide in-depth assessments, including supporting the assessing team with case formulation and treatment planning, and running of the assessments.
Psychiatric, medication, and complex case reviews with case managers.
Participation in clinical governance, including leadership in one or more streams of compliance with QNCC-ED standards.
To contribute to senior cover for urgent consultation and management of medical and psychiatric emergencies, and to cross-cover with consultant colleagues in CYP-CEDS and Wisteria Ward for annual/study/sick leave.
Working jointly with paediatric and inpatient eating disorder services to ensure effective care pathways for severely medically unwell patients.
This includes responsibility for the psychiatric care of patients under the service on paediatric wards.
Involvement in ongoing development and delivery of an expanded service offer, as led by the clinical and professional leads.

Person specificationRESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS: Evidence of participation in research, and outcomes of studies.
Higher degree in research Completion of a research project and evidence of its dissemination.
Publication in a peer-reviewed journal, especially where related to child and adolescent mental health and/or eating disorders.
QUALIFICATIONS Primary Medical degree.
Full GMC registration.
MRCPsych, or equivalent.
Included on the GMC Specialist Register for Child & Adolescent Psychiatry or eligible for such inclusion (or equivalent) on the Specialist Registrar within six months of completing their CCT.
Section 12 (2) approval of the Mental Health Act.
Qualifications in systemic family therapy and other related psychological therapies such as CBT-E or DBT.
Qualifications in change management and service development skills.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Critical Expertise in Specialty Completed minimum of three years full-time training in approved higher psychiatric training scheme.
A detailed knowledge of main treatment approaches in child mental health, including psychopharmacological interventions.
Experience of working with adolescents with eating disorders.
Experience of teaching medical and non-medical staff, including those who may not have a formal qualification.
AUDIT AND MANAGEMENT: Commitment to developing practice through clinical audit and/or research.
Commitment to working with allied agencies including carer's groups, and local charities.
Experience of service planning and development.
Experience of working with partner organisations.
Experience of co-production with service users.
