The Adult ADHD team is a dynamic, forward-thinking service that provides medication and non-medication treatment for Adult ADHD.
The service has close links with the autism assessment service, Bristol University, and we support the MSc Neuropsychology course with teaching slots, placements, and opportunities for dissertation projects.
We are actively involved in research in the field of Adult ADHD and are currently an approved site for a national ADHD medication trial, supported by our R&D department.
The existing Consultant Psychiatrist is the lead clinician for the UK Adult ADHD Network (UKAAN) in the South-West, and Bristol is the UKAAN hub for the South-West.
We are seeking an additional Consultant Psychiatrist to work alongside the consultant already in post.
This post was developed in recognition of the increasing demand on the senior medical role, in a clinical and service development capacity.
The Consultant will deliver direct interventions to service users. This will include ongoing assessment, diagnoses (including review and clarification), and treatment of mental and physical health needs, in liaison with primary care.
Responsibilities:The psychiatric assessment and management of patients referred to the Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Clinic.Support and work cooperatively with other ADHD team members to deliver effective multi-disciplinary assessment and interventions for adults with ADHD.Provide advice to members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team with regular attendance at Team MDT meetings.Psychiatric advice to GPs regarding adults with ADHD referred to the service, and as part of shared care and the Local Enhanced Service.Psychiatric advice to CMHTs and other psychiatric services regarding adults with ADHD.Supervision and training of medical trainees attached to the service.Actively participate in service development and quality improvement projects.The post holder should possess Section 12 approval for Mental Health Act work.Agree to reasonable provision of cover for Consultant colleagues' periods of leave in consultation with the Medical Director.Work jointly with the Clinical Leadership Structure, CTM, Operational Manager, and Head of Operations across the neuro-developmental service.We are AWP (Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust), a diverse organization with over 5,000 dedicated staff providing inpatient and community-based mental health care.
