Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist (Neuro interest)Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our Ophthalmology Service at Dorset County Hospital.
This is a new appointment to join four Consultant Ophthalmologists.
There will be a requirement to lead and support our Paediatric Ophthalmology services with a desired special interest in strabismus.
Additional subspecialty interest that complements the existing department would be considered; however, it would be desirable for the successful applicant to support neuro-ophthalmology and ROP screening services.

Main duties of the job The candidate is expected to be on the specialist register with appropriate Paediatric Ophthalmology experience.
The post-holder will be expected to provide high-quality care for Paediatric patients, working alongside our dedicated Orthoptic team and paediatric optician.
Job responsibilities The post-holder would be expected to carry out squint surgery and general ophthalmic surgery.
There will be an expectation to supervise Ophthalmic ST trainees from Wessex Deanery.
The appointee will participate in a 1:5 Saturday AM casualty clinic session, but there is no other out-of-hours on-call commitment.
Person SpecificationEducation, Qualification & Training Full GMC Registration Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) CESAR or European Community Rights An appropriate higher surgical/medical qualification Experience & Knowledge 5 years clinical experience in the relevant specialty Appropriate UK experience Sub-specialty Fellowship (or equivalent) Experience demonstrating potential ability to cope with the demands of a DGH based Consultant Experience in general Ophthalmology with the necessary skills to enhance the department.
