Reporting to our Hospital Medical Director, you will perform a range of ophthalmology procedures on referred patients, working in accordance with existing protocols and working practices.
As well as being able to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems within ophthalmology from your wide training and extensive experience, you will be required to demonstrate a high level of operative skill in the following areas:
High volume phacoemulsification under topical anaesthesiaOculoplastic (desirable)Medical Retina (desirable)You will participate in the outpatients prior to surgery, and in all aspects of the operative care of the patients. It is anticipated that you will spend the equivalent of at least three days in the operating theatre and two days a week in a combination of outpatient assessment; administrative, management and clinical governance duties. You will also work closely with clinical colleagues, both specialists and RMO's, in order to enhance the level of patient care at the centre.

You will be a UK registered medical professional, listed on the Specialist GMC register with operative skills in –
High volume phacoemulsification under topical anaesthesiaOculoplastic (desirable)Medical Retina (desirable)In time, consultants joining Practice Plus Group will be guided through the process to achieve accreditation with BUPA; applicants already with this accreditation are considered favourably and encouraged to highlight this in their application.
