Job summary Duties will be based at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and consist of the following: General Paediatric Duties ( PAs)SPA allowance PAs (potential SPA for education supervision) Main duties of the job The appointee will be contracted for an average of 10 programmed activities per week in general paediatrics and will contribute to general paediatrics hotweeks, winter second on weekends, resident shifts and non-resident on calls.
The exact format of this will be agreed with the appointee at commencement of the post.
General paediatric duties will include: 10 Monday to Friday hotweeks 08:00 - 17:30 5 weekends per year with ward rounds/reviews followed by on call from home 2 additional weekends in autumn and winter 8am - 2pm 27 resident evening shifts per year (17:00 - 2200 Monday to Thursday) 1 in 25 out of hours Monday to Thursday on call from home 3 general paediatric clinics a week when not on hotweek: new and follow-up About us MFT is England's largest NHS Trust with a turnover of £ & is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts.

Person Specification Qualifications and Training Essential MBChB or equivalent Postgraduate qualification - MRCPCH or equivalent Completion of general professional training (paediatric medicine) Completion of higher specialist training in paediatric medicine.
Must be on the specialist register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT or equivalent at the time of interview.
Have considerable experience in assessing and examining children and young people where there are safeguarding concerns Desirable MD, PhD or other higher degree Teaching and Audit Essential Experience of teaching medical students Experience of teaching junior medical staff Desirable Experience of Audit Academic Achievements and Research Desirable Publications in peer reviewed journals or demonstrable commitment to developing research in the Trust Research interests relating to paediatrics Research interests relating to paediatrics Essential Organisational skills Communication skills Leadership skills Ability to work harmoniously in multidisciplinary team
