For consultants there is the chance to pursue yourown interests, so if they lie in R&D, QI, or management & leadershipwell support you.
In 2021 Berkshire Healthcare was 4th out of the48 community and mental health trusts for the number of research projects werecruited to.
We have refreshed our research strategy and are looking forenthusiastic colleagues to develop and implement the Trusts researchprogramme.
QI the Trust is very active in terms of qualityimprovement.
Including the opportunity to gain fully accredited QIqualifications.
Main duties of the job This position is a full-time role supporting the CMHT including one PA for the newly developed Mental Health Integrated Community Service (MHICS) based with our primary care colleagues.
The MHICs role will consist of seeing a small number of patients directly, as well as feeding into the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team.
About us We are a busy team in the heart of Slough and our workloads reflect the diverse and complex nature of our client cohorts.
Based at New Horizons, we work with adults with severe mental health difficulties and offer support to carers and families too.
In addition to the main CMHT, we have the Recovery Team which runs psychoeducation, physical and creative workshops and training courses for all clients open to the main CMHT.
Alongside this, the Recovery Team operate a successful peer mentor programme whereby peer mentors with lived experience co-facilitate workshops.The CMHT is an integrated service between BHFT and Slough Borough Council (SBC) with the staffing composition reflecting this agreement.
We are fortunate enough to have two SBC commissioned supported living placements which provide low level and medium care to eligible clients.
Job description Job responsibilities Weekly supervision of a GP trainee for 1 hour as protectedtime in addition to day-to-day clinical work/clinics supervision Pas as Direct Clinical care (DCC)-Clinics/CPAs, MDTs,MHA work, Professional Meetings, Clinical Admin, Referral and allocationmeetings, GP liaison work as Supporting Professional Activities (SPA)1 session ofCPD, 1 Session of management activities/leadership (Consultant meetings, Seniormanagement meetings, EBCM, MSc), Audits etc, of clinical supervisionsAdditional possibilities: To take part in Trust Appraisalsystem as Appraiser Opportunity to become a clinical andeducational supervisor for a GPVTS traineeManagerialAllconsultants are expected to attend a monthly meeting with the Locality Managerto discuss issues relating to the locality and receive updates on other services.Regularindividual meetings with the Locality Manager will be arranged as requiredto provide supportand discuss any study and/or training needs arising from the appraisalprocess, and any other issues affecting the consultants work.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential MBBS or equivalent medical qualification Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment.
Holds and will use valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative.
Excellent knowledge in specialty.
Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others.
Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
Ability to work in and lead team.
Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership & collaborative working to deliver improvement.
Participated in continuous professional development.
Participated in research or service evaluation.
Able to use and appraise clinical evidence.
Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes.
Desirable Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
MRCPsych Additional clinical qualifications.
In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.
Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post.
Reflected on purpose of CPD undertaken Experienced in clinical research and / or service evaluation.
Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications.
Has led clinical audits leading to service change or improved outcomes to patients.
