Job summary Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult Psychiatry, Longbridge Community Mental Health Transformation Team.
This post has been created with investment from the Community Transformation programme and the post holder will support the development and implementation of specialist pathways in the South locality.
Candidates must have full GMC registration and a CCT in Adult Psychiatry or be within six months of completion of training or be on or eligible for the Specialist Register at the time of interview.
Main duties of the job The NHSE led Community Transformation Programme lays out multi-agency integrated teams at Primary Care Networks which in Birmingham and Solihull are known as Neighbourhood Mental Health pathways.
These are located within the Community Mental Health & Well Being Services (previously known as Community Mental Health Teams) at the locality level - there are presently 5 localities in Birmingham and Solihull - North, East, West, South and Solihull.
The community transformation plans to develop specialist pathways in each locality.

Job description Job responsibilities The main clinical base for the service is Longbridge CMHT.
The Longbridge CMHT is one of three CMHTs in the South Community Hub of the Trust.
It looks after adults of working age of over 25 years.
The post holder will provide clinical expertise and consultation in South Neighbourhood Mental Health Pathways multi-disciplinary team meetings at the Primary Care Networks (PCN).
This will include providing advice and support to General Practitioners, multi-agency teams members such as community psychiatric nurses and 3rd sector care navigators, advice on changes in patients care to Neighbourhood Mental Health Pathway and vice versa Person Specification Scoring Essential Full GMC registration with a licence to practice Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act (1983) MRCPsych or equivalent Obtained inclusion on the Specialist Register; or within six months of the award of a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in General Adult Psychiatry or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register Commitment to personal programme of Continuing Professional Development.
Assessment and formulation of complex SMI patients Teaching, training and supervising resident doctors and other non-traditional clinicians in the team Provision of consultation-liaison for complex SMI cases to other teams Work collaboratively as part of An extended multidisciplinary service Ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner Commitment to clinical audit within multidisciplinary team Excellent communication skills Skills in working with individuals who are difficult to engage Ability to work creatively within multidisciplinary team and across tea IT skills including email and internet Excellent leadership and team working capability Willingness to take on leadership and management roles Evidence of participation in CPD Ability to appraise own performance Able to travel Desirable Additional qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or another relevant field An additional or dual CCST in another psychiatric subspecialty Conducted second opinion diagnostic assessments for complex SMI cases/disorders Held formal medical education roles Working across teams to deliver service improvements Published audit, quality improvement or research projects Experience of teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level
