Job summary Applications are invited for Education Fellowship posts supporting Undergraduate medical education at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWB).
The posts available are 2 Full Time WTE Clinical Teaching Fellow (CTF) post We are looking for enthusiastic doctors with an interest in Medical Education who wish to develop this area further as a Clinical Teaching Fellow (CTF) Main duties of the job Clinical Teaching Fellows are an integral part of the Undergraduate Teaching Academy for the development and delivery of teaching to medical students from both Aston University (AMS) and University of Birmingham (UoB).
In addition, CTFs will be supported to complete a certificate in postgraduate medical education (PGCME) or equivalent during the post (if desired).
The post-holder will be hospital-based, and the clinical teaching will take place at Sandwell Health Campus (SGH) and our new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH).
The posts will suit doctors seeking to develop teaching skills and further their clinical interests before entering Core or Higher Specialist minimum of 2 years' postgraduate experience (completion of Foundation Programme training) is post will be for six months,starting 5thFebruary 2025.
The CTFs work as a team to provideward and simulation-based teaching, as well as mentorship to groups of students.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential MBBS or equivalent Desirable Attendance at relevant courses eg ALS, ALERT MRCP/MRCS Life Support course instructor Postgraduate diploma Eg MRCP Academic achievements Essential .Completed 2 years foundation training .Appropriate career progression to date Eligibility Essential Confirmation of Visa status / right to work from Home Office Full GMC registration with a license to practice Fitness To Practice Essential Is up to date and fit to practice safely Knowledge and Experience Essential .Computer literate .Ability to word process, prepare presentations .Able to carry out literature searches Teaching Essential Evidence of enthusiasm for teaching and learning Experience of teaching in clinical settings Able to prepare & deliver seminars for small group teaching Willingness to undertake training in medical education Ability to critically assess data Desirable Knowledge of teaching theory and / or skills , completion of course, further study Evidence of positive feedback on teaching delivery Familiar with UoB & Aston Medical School MBChB Curricula.
Experience of clinical simulation either as a candidate or instructor Personal Qualities Essential Self-motivated, adaptable team player Excellent written & verbal communication skills Evidence of organisational ability Desirable Evidence of good feedback from medical & nursing colleagues Clinical Care (Knowledge and skills) Essential Competent in basic clinical procedures eg CPR, infection control, physical examination, history taking etc Understands the principles of patient confidentiality and data protection Understand the principles of clinical governance - ensure patients are not put at risk Understands the importance of working effectively in teams Desirable Knowledge and experience of UK health systems, practices and values and awareness of current issues in the NHS Language and Communication Skills Essential Able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
Where appropriate has attained the minimum International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score.
Minimum scores in all domains (speaking, listening, reading and writing) Probity Essential Displays honesty, integrity, aware of ethical dilemmas, respects confidentiality in line with GMC requirements
