Clinical Nurse Specialist Paediatric RenalGuy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation TrustWe are looking for a motivated and professionally curious band 6 clinical nurse specialist to join our paediatric renal team. The service cares for children and young people 0 - 19 years, through their life journey with renal disease, giving them and their families support from initial diagnosis to all treatments including renal replacement therapies including transplantation.
We are one of 13 paediatric renal treatment centres in the UK and are the transplant centre for the South East including patients from Southampton, we have an active living related programme.
The successful candidate will work alongside our band 7 clinical nurse specialists to provide expert care to our cohort of patients.Interview date: 04/12/2024
Main duties of the jobEnsure safe and effective care for complex patients requiring advanced specialist clinical skills and responsible for carrying out specialist nursing procedures.To be an effective communicator with patients/carers/families regarding disease treatment and management.Promote high quality clinical care, and assist in the development of the specialist service, through the use of evidence based practice and clinical standards.To work in collaboration with the inpatient services, maintaining clinical skills, working a clinical shift every 6 weeks.About usEvelina London is part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and we are responsible for providing services for women and children. Job responsibilitiesIndependently manage a group of patients within the specialty whilst working as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering specialised individualised and personalised direct patient care.
Demonstrate appropriate practice and specialist advice in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. This includes history taking, physical examination and the requesting of agreed diagnostic procedures/clinical investigations.
Is wholly accountable for his/her practice in line with the NMC code of professional conduct and takes every reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve his/her knowledge and professional competence.
Person SpecificationQualifications/ EducationBSC/1st degree (health related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience. RN1/ RN2/ RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register. To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality.Post registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality.Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical, managerial training and CPD.Mentorship Course or equivalent.Participation in a Leadership course.Previous post registration experience within the relevant specialty.Experience of teaching/assessing/supervising others in a clinical setting.Experienced and competent in the management of patients within the speciality.Skills/Knowledge/ AbilityAbility to assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist care delivered to patients/clients and give relevant advice/information to patients and relatives.Evidence of involvement and leadership in teaching and mentoring learners.An understanding of audit and research based nursing practice.Good communication skills and ability to deal with sensitive information.Demonstrates the application of trust values in practice.Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
