Clinical Nurse Specialist In Allergy

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Allergy Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Chest and Allergy service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Our allergy service is the longest established Allergy clinic in the UK. This is a fully comprehensive, nationally commissioned Allergy service. Our dynamic Allergy CNS Team provides outpatient services across the Trust.
Working within our multidisciplinary team, the post holder will be expected to deliver nurse-led outpatient clinics, support the food and drug allergy day case services, and work alongside the medical and nursing team to deliver our immunotherapy service. This post will work closely with the lead nurse for allergy and Allergy consultants within the service.
Awareness of the current issues in allergy management is essential in order to provide high-quality specialist nursing assessment, evidence-based intervention, and self-management support for our patients. Teaching experience is also highly desirable as is the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Main duties of the jobTo facilitate and manage the provision of high-quality nursing care to adult patients with allergic diseases with a focus on facilitating self-management of long-term conditions including anaphylaxis, drug allergy, severe rhinitis, and food allergy.The CNS will provide care and support to patients and their families/carers attending the Trust either as inpatients or as outpatients and ensure smooth transitions of care into the community setting.The role offers advice and support to doctors, nursing staff, allied health care specialists and others to help support and manage patients.About usAt Imperial College Healthcare, you can achieve extraordinary things with extraordinary people, working with leading clinicians pushing boundaries in patient care.

Person SpecificationEducation/ QualificationsNMC Registered NurseEvidence of Postgraduate study/ Relevant courses/ training in allergyTeaching and assessing qualification - ENB 998 or equivalent or relevant experienceKnowledge of research and audit including implementation of findings and review of outcomesMentorship course or other teacher trainingExperienceSignificant demonstrable post-registration nursing experience and experience with caring for patients with respiratory and allergy conditions.Evidence of experience in medicines management and in delivery of nurse-led servicesEvidence of experience in health education or health promotion with a focus on supporting patients with self-managementEvidence of experience in managing allergy/respiratory conditions in acute and non-acute settings.Skills/Knowledge/ AbilitiesComputer and IT software literateAble to manage difficult situations effectivelyMotivated to acquire knowledge and skills essential to role.Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
