Find out more below!We are looking to recruit highly motivated and enthusiastic specialist Clinical Coders to join our Trust; Your role will have responsibilities to ensure all coding is completed timely and accurately for SUS deadlines and support Payment by Results with the assistance of all colleagues.The post holder will be responsible for coding some complex specialities.
They will work as part of the central coding team alongside other coders and additionally with other specialist coders as part of a more expert team sharing knowledge and providing assistance to trainee members of the team.The post holder will act as a "mentor" and first port of call for any coding queries.
Together with the Management team, they will take the lead in meetings with clinicians and other Trust staff to review and discuss coding.Applicants will be expected to work across any of the locations under MWL, including Southport.Hybrid and flexible working available.Interview date: TBC Main duties of the job To work closely with the Coding Manager, Mentors, Auditors, and other Clinical Coding Specialists to support the improvement in clinical documentation and accurate clinically coded data.
To advise on data recording practises to ensure clinical coding accurately reflects inpatient care delivered.
Undertake internal clinical coding validation audits highlighting training and data quality issues to the Clinical Coding Manager.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent ACC Status Desirable Degree or equivalent AMSPAR Medical terminology Knowledge Essential Mentoring junior staff.
Experience of coding a wide variety of specialities Desirable At least 2 years' experience as a Senior Clinical Coder Supervision/Appraisal of junior staff Experience of liaising with Clinicians, Directorate Managers and Senior nursing staff Skills Essential Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
