Job Description This is a great opportunity to join our Food & Water Chemistry laboratory in Linlithgow.
The purpose of this role will be to to carry out basic chemistry practices which contribute to the production of reliable and accurate test results.  This is a part time permanent role working 24 hours per week - Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 09:30-18:00 (30min break unpaid).
To carry out basic chemistry practices which contribute to the production of reliable and accurate test results.  To prepare samples for analysis when required.
To prepare chemical solutions when required.
To accurately record all activities performed, on appropriate paperwork.
To wash all laboratory glassware using dishwashers and hand washing as required but always mindful of the glassware requirements.
To render biohazardous waste safe for disposal according to MSDS sheets.  To report any unsafe or poor working practices in the laboratory.  To provide general assistance to Laboratory Staff at all levels.
To carry out housekeeping duties in line with Eurofins: Linlithgow's documents or manuals as required (including cleaning of equipment when required as part of Quality procedures).
To ensure laboratory floors are brushed and washed at least twice per week.
To ensure general waste bins are emptied daily and are clean.
To ensure handwash and other staff facilities are kept clean, tidy and stocked as required.
To provide training to new laboratory staff as required.
These job descriptions can never be all encompassing and hence flexibility is required.
  Qualifications Standard grade Education including Science/s, Mathematics & English, or equivalent.
Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
Knowledge of the routine workings of a Laboratory Environment and the importance of a clean lab.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Computer literate, ability to use Word and Excel to basic level.
