We are looking for a positive and dedicated School Caretaker to join our Junior School in Barking.
As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running and maintenance of the school premises, creating a safe and clean environment for both staff and students.
Key Responsibilities: Undertake general maintenance tasks including plumbing, painting, and minor repairs Keep the school grounds tidy and free from litter Carry out regular health and safety checks to identify and address any potential hazards Monitor and maintain the security of the premises, including locking and unlocking the school buildings Set up and dismantle equipment for school events and activities Liaise with external contractors and suppliers as required Assist with the delivery and storage of supplies and equipment Respond promptly to any emergencies or urgent repairsRequirements: Previous experience in a similar caretaker role is desirable but not essential A positive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team Good communication skills to interact with staff, students, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner Basic DIY skills and the ability to carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks A proactive approach to health and safety, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines Valid Enhanced DBS Check issued in last 6 months or have the online update service (If you do not have a valid DBS we can process one for £40) Flexibility to work split shifts from 7am-9.30am and 2pm-6.30pm Competitive hourly rate of payBenefits: Competitive hourly rate Temporary contract with the possibility of extension Opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive school environmentIf you are a reliable and hardworking individual with a passion for creating a safe and welcoming school environment, then we would love to hear from you.
