Buyer / Procurement Specialist - Electric Vehicle Development - Oxfordshire - 4 Month Contract (Outside IR35) - £25ph to £35ph One of our key clients specialising in the EV & Automotive sector based in Oxfordshire is hiring a Buyer / Procurement Specialist.
As a Buyer / Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, components, and services essential to their operations.
You will ensure that all procurement activities align with their quality standards, cost-efficiency goals, and sustainability initiatives.
This role requires strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships.
Role: Buyer / Procurement Specialist Location: Oxfordshire Hybrid WFH: Varied, Primarily on Site (Negotiable) Rate: £30ph to £35ph (Negotiable depending on experience) Key Skills & Experience: +2 years' experience as Buyer or similar role in Procurement Prior experience in the Automotive / EV Sector is ideal Experience with Chassis, Vehicle Development, Fabrication is ideal Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
A degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Knowledge of electric vehicle components and sustainability practices is a plus.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement procurement strategies that support business objectives and sustainability goals.
Managing the day to day procurement of components directly from BoMs, Meeting SIP/MRD deadlines, and Producing regular reports of procurement/release status against each project.
Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate terms and conditions, and establish contracts.
Monitor supplier performance to ensure adherence to quality, delivery, and cost expectations.
Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and availability of materials.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and logistics teams to forecast procurement needs and manage inventory levels.
Resolve issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing in a timely and efficient manner.
Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier correspondence.
Continuously seek opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the procurement function.
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
